I used different colored peppers and didn't measure the ingredients exactly and I thought it was great! I used dark-brown rice, extra garlic, and cooked information technology for a total of 1.5 hours. Nifty flavor, I will be making over again!!!
03/09/2014
This is a great recipe. I used ground turkey and italian turkey sausage instead of beef. The turkey is lower in fat which offsets the addtional cheese that I add.
04/22/2014
Made these last dark for dinner changed a few things. I allow the rice simmer in beef broth, sautéed the onions, garlic added carrots and celery with Montreal spice.I also sauté the beef prior to stuffing the peppers. Mixed everything together adding grated cheese and breadcrumbs. The stuffing was amazing! Stuff peppers and bake in oven at 350 for 45 min. Likewise found a zucchini in the refrigerator. Very delicious!!!! A must attempt very easy and quick

Although I made a few minor changes I must say that these are the best always!! I didn't take mesomorphic tomato sauce so only used canned chopped tomatoes and added lycopersicon esculentum sauce to get the right amount. I used shredded pepper jack instead of parmesean. Biggest modify was to use my Dutch oven instead of wasting parchment newspaper and foil. Notwithstanding followed the temperature and time and they came out perfect! Thank you!!

Our favorite stuffed pepper recipe! We but needed 3 medium sized peppers for our family unit, so I adjusted to 1 lb. of beef and 1 cup of rice. Yet only used half the stuffing mix. I fabricated 4 big meat assurance with the remaining, boiled them in beef broth, then drained and put in the fridge. I likewise saved remaining pan drippings. Two days later, I skimmed fatty off the pan drippings, poured it over the meatballs, and heated in covered dish in the oven. Served on egg noodles (tossed with butter & basil after cooking). Yummy again. Will add a lilliputian pork sausage side by side time, equally suggested.
02/06/2014
The whole family actually enjoyed this one.add a few alterations though. I did not put the tops dorsum on and replaced one lb of the hamburger with a lb of hot breakfast sausage. I also put mozzarella and parmesan cheese in the stuffing mix. Then I sprinkled pepperjack cheese on top during the final 10 min in the oven.

Update: I have made this soooo many times now. My family loves it, and I generally make this, due to the color variations, for Christmas Eve every yr. I wish I could find a mode to thicken the sauce, but it'due south simply the way it goes; wait a brothier sauce with some fatty from the beef. However, this my go-to and simply blimp pepper recipe. Thanks again, years subsequently. / Had leftover jasmine rice and have been wanting to make stuffed peppers for a while. I never used a recipe before for stuffed peppers, but this is going in the book. I love everything nigh it. I scaled to 4 servings, and for the "chunky tomato sauce", combined 8oz. can of tomato sauce and a 15 oz. tin of tuckered, diced tomatoes. Also used basis sirloin, and ruby-red peppers. Followed the directions. Like shooting fish in a barrel to put together and baked it for 90 minutes. All I tin say is delicious!!! Accept passed on the recipe to my siblings before even finishing my dinner. THANKS!
07/thirteen/2015
It may simply be a difference in preference, but these weren't our favorite blimp bell peppers. Stuffing with raw meat and baking yielded drier meat that was sort of caked together, rather than the crumbly, saucy peppers that nosotros were hoping for. Flavor was pretty expert, although I might use i/2 of the garlic this recipe calls for if I were to make information technology once more.
11/03/2014
I made this today for tiffin and information technology was a Large hit. I actually assembled it yesterday afternoon and refrigerated it overnight. I made it as written except for slightly less salt. It was fantabulous! In the by I take made these where you flinch the peppers start and brown the ground beef. I thought this was so much easier, even though it does have longer in the oven. The garlic and parmesan cheese gave the dish a wonderful flavor. I'm looking forward to making with one-half sausage, half footing beefiness next time. The only thing was that I had to melt information technology longer than the recipe states. My peppers were large and I accept a gas oven which e'er tends to take longer. I even bumped the temperature upwardly a bit for the first half hr, but it still took just shy of two hours. Cheers for the recipe!
02/11/2014
This is undoubtedly the best pepper recipe I've ever eaten. I added a petty Italian sausage to the burger and also some herbes de provence to both the sauce and the meat. Wonderful!
01/23/2015
I make stuffed bell peppers all the time, simply I have never thought to flatten the bottoms or poke holes so the juiced drain. So smart! I am besides going to try putting the peppers on a raised cooking sheet so the peppers don't swim in juice the whole time. I highly recommend putting aluminum foil down too to aid with cleanup. These tasty buggers make a mess.
11/eighteen/2014
OMG. Absolutely loved this recipe. Best stuffed pepper's I've ever treated my mouth to. Next fourth dimension, I've going to attempt and layer the meat/rice mixture with either Ricotta or Cottage cheese(whichever I have, volition bleed cottage cheese). This recipe really is amazing, though it did take a bit longer than I imagined to exercise the prep work. Well worth information technology though. I used ground turkey to make mine.
04/22/2014
This is so expert!!!!! I used Hot Italian Turkey Sausage (remove the castings) instead of basis beef, and used chicken broth instead of beefiness broth. Absolutely fabulous!!!!!
07/24/2014
This was succulent! I used meatloaf mix (pork, beef, veal) instead of ground beef and regular not chunky tomato sauce. I too establish that nosotros liked it much ameliorate with ruby, xanthous, orangish peppers vs. the green!
11/xv/2016
I generally used this recipe every bit a guide and so, as I usually do, doctored it upwards appropriately. Instead of hamburger, I used Italian sausage. I precooked everything so bake time was quicker. I use marinara, chop up the tops and add them to the mix and, because the mix is already hot, bake fourth dimension is only virtually 45 min.
01/05/2016
Great basic recipe! I made information technology acc to Chef john's instructions and they came out perfectly! I used 1lb basis beef and 1/2lb sweet Italian sausage. To the meat I added actress garlic, shredded carrots, herbs de provence, and a fiddling sauteed onion forth with Chef John's ingredients. I finished off some jarred spaghetti sauce and besides used crushed tomatoes. As suggested by another reviewer, I cooked brownish rice in the beef stock with a bay leaf and a clove of garlic. When adding the meat mixture to the peppers, I added a little of the tomato sauce half mode, then more than meat, then topped with more than sauce and the lids. I volition line the baking sail with foil next time. My entire family loved information technology! Thanks, Chef John!!
eleven/14/2015
I have to confess, I don't like peppers! But, I ate two of these! I used beef and venison, brownish rice and a can of fire roasted tomatoes and a small tin of tomato sauce and dried parsley since I didn't take fresh. Otherwise I tried to follow the recipe pretty exactly. It was very good and was washed in an hr and a one-half. I will be making this once again, but not in a 9x13 pan...information technology's just too big. I'm going to use a taller casserole dish next time. I had about a loving cup and a half of meat mixture left over and fabricated six little meatloafs in a muffin pan with that. It's very, very good!
09/08/2016
really great recipe. I used basis sirloin and italian sausage. I was out of worcestchire sauce and then i used teriyaki sauce in its place. I too used two bags of Steam Fresh Birdseye Southwestern fashion rice (microwaveable) which saved some time. I used two bags to cut down on the meat and plus we love rice. This was a bully recipe that i topped off with a slice of provolone under the broiler for a few minutes ( to brownish). This was easier to set than my usual recipe.
08/08/2019
This recipe reminded me then much of my momma'due south stuffed bell peppers when I was growing upward! I dearest how flavorful Chef John fabricated it with the added red flakes! Perfect! I did notice that the video says 1/2 cup of beef broth but the recipe says 1 cup. I retrieve ane/2 cup should be used in club to have a picayune thicker sauce! Honestly, this is a must try recipe because it is spot on! Love this and thanks Chef John!!
03/31/2016
This is a very simple all in one repast to fix and easy cleanup. The sauce, although quite basic, had a nice flavor and went well with the peppers. The filling was practically a meatball in consistency afterward baking which I liked, just my wife said she would prefer more rice and less meat. I wanted to follow equally written so didn't read others' tips and overall this makes a overnice dinner, especially with hot sauce. Next fourth dimension I volition likely add some additional seasoning and possible use yellow rice to enhance things a scrap. Keep helpin me look good Chef John!
09/10/2016
Made this concluding night and it was delicious! I did utilise green peppers instead of red and I switched out the rice and used Farro in its place. Next time I'll besides add more onion since we all love the taste.. Also, since I went a fiddling over on the quantity of meat, I rolled the remaining meat mixture into tiny meatballs and put them in the sauce in betwixt the stuffed peppers.
09/27/2015
Came out great, fifty-fifty my 2 year erstwhile was eating the peppers! I only used a pound of ground turkey, and I added all the reserve tomato sauce to the meat mixture. Later on stuffing, I used the sauce from the pan to garnish the tops. And I used curly parsley, it was amazing. I did follow the recommendation to put a cookie sheet under the dish. I think this helped keep them moist, and the bells slightly well-baked. I used orange bells.
04/01/2015
Had lots of left over rice so added it to browned upwards ground beefiness, onion, jalapeno and our seasoning preferences. I cut our peppers lengthwise ( personal) and baked with some seasoned diced tomato, about 45 min. Very nice, easy dish. Would love to endeavor with Italian sausage.
02/15/2016
I microwaved the peppers for near 7 to x min, in order to soften them, also precooked the sauce on stove. I was running late on time, yes I'll melt this over again.
04/27/2019
I always loved my mom's stuffed peppers growing up which was basically meatloaf, stuffed in raw green peppers. When I got older and looked up the recipe, I saw information technology had rice, the meat was sauteed and peppers blanched first. I just went back to my Mom'due south mode. Merely this recipe is my Mom's on steroids. I added i egg and a trivial bread crumbs to the meat mixture and used Italian diced tomatoes along with the tomato sauce. Information technology was delicious! The sauce is so good; helps proceed everything moist. He'southward right, the cookie sheet makes it take longer but found it cooked evenly. I similar the suggested way to cut the peppers and using the lid. You lot can go alot more meat in there. I made 4 and heaped them high similar an water ice cream cone. This will at present be my go to recipe.
07/27/2016
I used red bell peppers, Italian sausage instead of basis beef and quinoa in stead of rice (diabetic household) and used very piddling salt.. Used mozerella cheese cause that'southward what Ihad on mitt. I fabricated three for me and 3 for my husband who likes a more spicy flavor. In his I added Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy Seasoning and a pinch of habanero. They were delicious and we will definitely make them again. My husband who is a Picky Eater and was quite hesitant about trying this, loved his. They re-warm upward very well in the microwave.
08/x/2014
First time having stuffed peppers. Used this recipe. Turned out awesome. I loved the heat from pepper flakes. Used Rinaldi spag sauce instead of plain love apple sauce. Will definitely make again.
08/26/2016
The rice was mush considering it was already cooked, the bell peppers were near raw.
05/05/2014
Yum! Dandy second stage food for babe!
03/22/2015
I made this recipe and substituted turkey instead of beef and it was a major hit! Even my meat and potato husband tried some of the bell pepper. That says a ton!
08/01/2014
Very good, great use of left over rice with not much burger. Economical and yummy!
07/12/2016
Was in a compression for time, so wanted to melt everything first. Here were my changes: -Just sliced the tops off v peppers (no other messing with them), and roasted them 15 min @ 425 past themselves right on the oven rack (needed double this or increased estrus) -Cooked the 1/2 finely cut onion and tbsp garlic in a pan, added half to the sauce at the bottom of the blistering dish, left half in the pan. -Added sweet italian flavored basis chicken to the pan, added ~ 1T of it. seasoning and cooked until done. I followed the rest of the recipe & these turned out fabulously. Adjacent time I'll employ a little more than sauce in the meat mixture, which is how my mom used to make them. My husband and I both said "go on!" to this recipe. I'll brand these again!
05/xiii/2015
Made with 1/two ground beef and 1/2 sweet Italian sausage. Stuffed in greenish peppers. Delicious - Cheers Chef John
02/26/2017
Neat dish, but takes much longer to cook. We now cook the ground beef nearly 50% prior to placing in peppers, as y'all still need enough time to soften the peppers.
eleven/04/2016
I precooked the meat. That felt safer. I love the Italian flair. Next time I volition do half Italian sausage. I too added shredded cheese to the top after the spoons total of tomato plant sauce. I recall it needs more sauce in the peppers.
03/23/2020
I brand it a unlike fashion and less time consuming. I take out the core and all the seeds...and so I boil the bell peppers x min ...while humid I brown the footing beef onions with tomatoes sauce of your liking and also seasonings of your liking....I like the knorrs rice seven minutes then I mix in with the ground beef...I so ready bong peppers on a cookie sheet I put shredded Mexican cheese on bottom then fill with stuffing and sprinkle and repeat with Mexican cheese on height put in oven for 350 degrees or make full cheese is melted....normally simply takes nearly nearly 5 to 7 minutes and voila done!!! My fiance...picky kids and friends difficult workers dear this recipe.never failed...delight savour
01/26/2016
I used 1 cup mozzeralla and 1/2 parmesan. I as well substituted the parsley for oregano, thyme, and basil. I used chicken broth instead of beefiness goop because...well...oops. I added in spinach and mushrooms. I used Prego three cheese tomato sauce.
08/04/2015
Loved this recipe! Brought back memories of Mom making stuffed peppers when we had an abundance of bell peppers in the garden. I made this recipe gluten-free and dairy gratuitous because of food allergies in the family. Wonderful and like shooting fish in a barrel to make. Next time I brand rice, I will brand plenty extra to have a head offset on this recipe.

I used this as the base and added some cumin. My family loved it!
01/23/2019
I'grand in the procedure of making this at present but in the video you say to utilise i/two a cup of broth but the recipe says 1 cup. You said put 2 ane/2 cups of tomato sauce in the pan but then we need more than to put on summit of the peppers and the same with the parsley. I'm just a lilliputian dislocated but hopefully it turns out good...
03/08/2019
I sprinkled mozzarella cheese over each one , yummy!!!!!!!!! These are perfect stuffed bell peppers!!!
03/19/2017

WAS led to believe they are of German origin? The friend is Jerry Younger from the Far-Mar-Co Company. The Western Kansas customs is Hays Kansas on I-seventy!
02/17/2020
I've made this keeping to the verbal ingredients and information technology's a winner. However, tonight I made it once more merely noticed I didn't have enough footing beef so, I took some cooked pork chorizo I had in the freezer to brand upward for the ground beefiness. It was five stars before...only with the chorizo information technology's half dozen stars.

06/thirteen/2016
This is best recipe I've come up across. Married man talked me into making for him now I'grand a fan as well!
08/22/2018
It was delicious. The only change I made was that I stuffed hatch peppers instead of bell peppers. They're in season for such a short time that this was a groovy fashion of enjoying this fantabulous delicacy.
04/21/2021
This is a recipe to hang onto! Then I took the advice of some other commenter and I boiled the bell peppers while I browned the meat. I let my oven preheat at 375 and cooked i pound of burger and a one-half pound of turkey sausage with olive oil, garlic, a can of mushrooms ,and function of a couple green onion. While I permit the grease drain off to the aforementioned pot I added a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato plant sauce, garlic from a jar, and the rest of the greenish onions. I seasoned with dried tyme, parsley, chili flakes, crushed bay leaves, and pepper. I added the meat back to the sauce along with my jasmine rice (rice cooker is a life saver). As you tin see I used a Dutch oven (and posted iii times because I didn't know what I was doing) there was no demand for me to cut the bottoms because they all fit in the bottom nicely and could've fit a 7th. I used cooking spray on the bottom then assembled, mozzarella, filling, mozzarella, top of peppers. At that place was filling left over I only piled information technology into the heart and covered it with cheese too. Afterwards I let the whole affair cook for 10 minutes I baked the top so the cheese got brown. And then much fun to make and very very tasty.
01/31/2019

03/22/2015
My wife is making me prepare this for her again tonight. Demand I say more?
07/24/2016
Double batch for lunches and freezing. Very good but second batch turned out ameliorate. Boosted parsmesan and a picayune mozzarella as well as diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce. My new favorite blimp pepper recipe. Likewise added quite a flake more garlic. Personal taste. Fantabulous. Much easier than par-humid peppers like my erstwhile recipe called for. The parsley was a different twist too.
05/01/2016
I used red peppers, wild rice, 1 can Italian fashion diced tomatoes &one tin Italian tomato paste (instead of the chunky tomato paste), and vegan meat, delicious!
03/14/2017
I made this last night for dinner. Hubby and I really enjoyed information technology, we switched the serving size down to four so there would be leftovers to take to tiffin. Really glad nosotros did that. But matter I would modify is the amount of sauce, I would prefer at that place to exist more than sauce and thicker.
01/10/2017
I think this is one of the best Beef and Rice Stuffed Pepper recipes I've always made. The beefiness is very flavorful and the sauce is delicious. I used one pound footing beef and one pound mild pork sausage. I used both sweet ruby-red and greenish peppers that were quite large.
08/09/2017
My go-to recipe for stuffed peppers! I used to make them a sure way for x years, merely this is the mode I make them from now on. I absolutely love the onion and lycopersicon esculentum sauce these peppers melt in. It is and so good spooned over the peppers, and a lot of times I have leftover sauce that I can re-employ in other recipes, or enjoy in a encarmine mary. This is a classic, simple, comforting dish that everyone will love. I can't await for Fall/Wintertime to roll in and so I can start using my oven again!!
04/26/2018
But made it for dinner tonight. Delicious ??!!!!! But thing that I did different was that U used love apple sauce with cheese already in information technology. It was dollop practiced ??. 05/29/2020

08/14/2016
I grew a lot of bell peppers and take been searching for a recipe and came across this 1. Information technology reminds me of my grandmothers and then thought I would try it. :) I changed a few things, I had just made homemade salsa (pico) so I used this along with 1 cup of canned love apple sauce. I did not use the parsley but had cilantro in the salsa. Really liked this and will do it over again.
03/07/2020
My daughter and friend loved it! Absolutely delicious!
08/24/2020
I have made this so many times over the years, for guests and just for u.s.. I ever use some form of marinara, either homemade or if I am lazy, jarred. Yesterday I used a jar of Mid'southward Marinara. I always slice a whole sweet onion and use red and yellowish peppers. I had bought a new chunk of parm but concluded up using the remnants of some leftover parm, cheddar, and a little cojack from the fridge that nosotros had shredded over the by week for other meals and information technology was great. I can't imagine ever going back to the old way of making blimp peppers. I dear Chef John.
04/26/2019
I mixed 1 lb ground sirloin and 1/ii lb pork sausage, plus all the other ingredients and made 3 stuffed peppers. They were delicious. Yum. I'll do this again with out a doubt.

05/10/2016

04/20/2019
I seasoned the meat to taste only overall peachy recipe! Also, I used different colored peppers
x/31/2016
Fabricated it essentially by the given recipe but took a few shortcuts: used dried onionbits in the sauce and the aforementioned tomato sauce in the meat as in the pan- not a chunky one. Of course I had to sprinkle more than grated cheese on top towards the stop. Everyone loved it from the ane twelvemonth old to the 70 yr old! Volition be making this again.
02/02/2022
I added Italian sausage, minced garlic, beef base and substituted lycopersicon esculentum paste for tomato sauce in my mix. I as well added onion soup mix and cut the salt intake to one/2 tsp. And used spaghetti sauce for my pan base. It was and so practiced!
03/02/2015
DELICIOUS!!! My toddlers ate it and my husband fifty-fifty ate the leftovers.
08/07/2017
This will definitely be a recipe nosotros employ often. Made it exactly as directed with one pocket-sized Edition mozzarella. I'k sure would have been just as good without it. GREAT RECIPE!!! Nosotros have a large family so I doubled up on recipe with leftover meat made meatballs was excellent no leftovers.
10/02/2020

10/27/2020
Great stuffed peppers I changed to red peppers because I exercise non like light-green
09/09/2021
Delicious! I used footing turkey and veggie bouillon instead of beef broth. The pan sauce with crushed scarlet peppers is spicy, then I wiped it off the outside of the bong pepper earlier giving information technology to my 1-year-old. She loved information technology!
10/29/2017
This was a skillful recipe but I didn't accept the correct stuff....I had Minute Brown Rice that I didn't melt...I didn't chocolate-brown the basis chuck, I cut the onions very pocket-size and didn't soften them....cooked the dish hour covered and a half hour uncovered....I also added a tin can of Italian tomatoes 1/two in making meat and rice stuffing and half with the tomato sauce, I only had a 8 ounce can.it turned out cracking and was moist and rice was done very flavorful...Thanks, Happy Cooking!
04/02/2019
I fabricated this as written and it was flavorful. My wife loved information technology.
05/15/2019
I used ground turkey meat Likewise I used burn roasted tomato's for the pan equally nosotros like a little spice in our life!
01/19/2020
First time making stuffed bell peppers I wish I tin upload my picture it was pretty adept I think if I would have let the bell peppers cook a little bit more longer it wouldn't exist and then difficult merely however soft and some places the ingredient was definitely easy to make with the hamburger seasoning and cook rice and onions I'll definitely endeavor it a different style but overall it was okay.
12/09/2016
Just made this, very good. Keeper recipe, will make again. I did as another person did, used one can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato plant sauce. Did bake for 2 hours though. I used cherry and orange peppers, just like the flavour of those peppers improve.
02/21/2020
It was very skilful. I adjusted a few things but it was a great guide
05/08/2020
The hubby and I loved information technology. I used ground pork and ground turkey and just followed the recipe. Making it tonight for the 2nd time.
04/ten/2017
I followed all the instructions but I felt the peppers were not equally juicy as I expected them to exist, the meat was more of a hard brawl in the middle. The taste of the filling was good. I will try them over again but this time i think i will cook the beef separately.
